I trained in the Tapestry Department of Edinburgh College of Art, graduating with a 1st class Honours Degree and Postgraduate Diploma.in 1985. Over the years I have divide my time between teaching, working to commission and developing my own work for exhibition.
Teaching has been an important part of my creative practice. As well as teaching many independent workshops for Dovecot Studio, West Dean and guilds up and down the UK. I enjoy welcoming students to my Edinburgh studio. (studio 114) I run weekend workshop for beginners to a 2 year study program for developing artist. Opportunities for artist mentoring, private tuition or creative activity days are also available in studio 114
I am currently a teaching fellow in tapestry weaving and stitched textiles for Edinburgh University, Short Courses department.
Passionate about promoting contemporary Scottish tapestry I have had many opportunities to travel the world with my work. Attending symposiums in Lithuania and Russia, exhibiting in Europe, Korea and Japan to artist residency in Norway.
I am a founder member of STAR (Scottish and Tapestry Artist Regrouped) and ETF (European Tapestry Forum). I am also an active Professional Member of the SSA (Society of Scottish Artist) and member of VAS (Visual Arts Scotland).
I exhibit regularly at home and abroad, building up working relationships with artists in Europe, Japan, Korea, Canada, USA, Russia, Lithuania
